The 2013 Travelers Championship is right around the corner and the tournament will bring a week full of great golf and fan activities with 100 percent of net proceeds donated to charity. Some of the PGA TOUR’s top players are getting ready to tee it up in Connecticut June 17 - 23, and special events throughout tournament week will bring an added level of excitement, which is why the Travelers Championship was named the PGA TOUR’s most fan-friendly event.
Player field to date
To date, the player field includes seven past champions: defending champion Marc Leishman, Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan, Freddie Jacobson, Stewart Cink, Brad Faxon, and J.J. Henry; young, exciting talent like Rickie Fowler, Chris Williams (top-ranked U.S. Amateur), and Justin Thomas; PGA TOUR veterans like Jason Dufner, Justin Rose, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Vijay Singh; and major champions that include Webb Simpson, Keegan Bradley, Padraig Harrington and Zach Johnson.
All of the net proceeds of the tournament benefit charity
The Travelers Championship donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charity each year. Since 1952, the tournament has generated more than $30 million for charity, and in 2012 the Travelers Championship generated $1.154 million for more than 100 charities throughout the region. Among the beneficiaries of tournament-related events are:Camp Courant, the largest free day camp in the nation; and The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which serves children facing serious illness.See complete list of tournament charities
